As A 1st Grade Artist, I Can...
- Drawing- Draw from observation. Combine shapes to create drawings. Use line to imply texture. Use overlapping to create space.
- Printmaking- Create texture rubbings. Make bilateral symmetry design by folding and printing with paint.
- Painting- Mix light and dark colors. Use watercolors to create washes and crayon resist.
- Construction/Mixed-Media- Weave with paper. Sew with yarn and paper. Create mixed-media artwork and sculpture. Build sculptures using wood, cardboard and other materials.
- Ceramics- Roll a slab and decorate with incised designs. Create a vessel using a slump mold.
- Concepts/Vocabulary- Differentiate between abstract and realistic art. Recognize warm and cool colors. Differentiate between 2-D and 3-D. Differentiate between geometric and organic shapes.
